Childhood Incident Rates
The table below shows data from 1996–2005 detailing the incidence rates, in Great Britain, of low-grade gliomas per million population of children aged 0 - 14. Astrocytomas are very rare; during 1996 - 2005, just over 1 in 55,000 2-year old children contracted the disease. Overall, just 226.4 children per million of age 0 - 14 would be diagnosed with an Astrocytoma during that same period, which is about 1 in 4417 children, or just 0.02%.
